Why Hedo II?

Bob and I have visited Hedo II in Negril, Jamaica more than a dozen times in the past 7 years.  Hedonism II has the highest repeater rate of any resort in the Caribbean.  Why do people have such loyalty to this location?

The very first time we went to Hedonism II was for our wedding.  Yes, we were married right there on the nude beach on the peninsula that juts off the beach and is fondly known as erection point.  In fact, when people asked where we were married we always tell them Erection Point.  It's a great conversation piece.

We knew several couples who had been a few times before and when Bob mentioned to them that he was considering proposing to me, they suggested why don't we get hitch at Hedo and combine the wedding and the honeymoon in Jamaica.  They also commented on how beautiful the wedding were there and how the staff did everything to make your day perfect.   So when Bob proposed he not only offered his unending love and support to death to we die, but a trip to Hedonism II  - what girl could turn that down!   And thus our first trip was the start of our lives together and a new place to call home!

It's always mind boggling whenever we arrive back, that we are greeted by the front desk with a glass of champagne and a warm welcome home.  We do consider Hedo II our second home and we count the days until we can get back there to see our Hedo Family.

We've often considered a cruise, but just can't get over what our friends who do cruise pay at the end in the bar bill.  One of the nicest things about Hedo is you don't need to be concerned with money while you are there.  The last time we went to Hedo we literally only spent $47.00 and that was on tips from the airport to the resort and a souvenirs for people at home.

At Hedo all drinks are included including top shelf beverages, water excursion are included including scuba diving twice daily, snorkeling, windsurfing, glass bottom boats rides, sail boating and sea kayaks.  If you are a scuba diver as Bob is, this is huge!  If you are not a diver, but want to be they have certification classes for a very VERY nominal fee.  You cannot and will not get this on a cruise.

Bob and I have been to many vacation designations before we finally discovered Hedo.  We've been across the US and to many areas in the Caribbean including Mexico.  We have never been to a beach as beautiful as the 7 mile beach that Hedo II is sitting right on top of.  One of things we enjoy when we can drag ourselves out of bed early in the morning is a walk on this beach early in the day.  The water is pristine and the beach sand is soft and beautiful.

The Jamaican people are some of friendliest and most genuine people we have met anywhere.  If you check out the Candle Cares page, you will understand some of the hardships these folks face on a daily basis.  But as the saying goes - no worries - they mean that.  They play the hand they are dealt and whining isn't in their nature.  As soon as you walk outside the airport, you will run face to face with the laid back nature of these people.  It's truly culture shock coming from NY but a very welcome one!

We made the big mistake once of booking a few extra vacation days at the end of a Hedo vacation in the Big Apple - New York City.  Talk about losing your Jamaican mojo quickly - don't do that...if you want to tag a NYC visit to your trip do it before you fly to Montego Bay!  It will help you appreciate Jamaica all the much more.

Whenever I speak with people who have not visited Jamaica before, it is much too frequent that the first thing I hear from them is "is it safe there?"   there is much bad press that Jamaica gets that is erroneous.  Yes there are parts of Jamaica that you should be very cautious of and I would never visit Kingston by myself just as I would not readily visit some parts of NYC or LA.  However, I have stayed by myself in Negril without fear and met the nicest folks.  The security at Hedonism is top notch and I would not question being there as a single lady.  I truly feel at home there and feel that the staff from the wait staff to the entertainment staff and management is keeping an eye on everyone's well being and enjoyment.

Another question I get asked a lot is how's the food and is the water safe to drink?  The food at Hedo II has improved quite a lot over the years.  They just started a few years ago something called the Gala Buffet on Friday evenings.  Unlimited lobster and other assorted seafood are spread on table after table for dinner, ice sculptures adorn these tables, other scrumptious entrees and mountains of incredible desserts are also available.  The flan to die for!  And you have not lived until you've had a Charlie omelet!  Charlie is the omelet chef in the am and will make your omelet to order.  Say hello to him when you are ordering your breakfast.  The water is fresh clean spring water and has been purified unlike when we were in Mexico and afraid to drink the water, we have never had an issue here - even when we visit and work at our adopted school.

What other resort can you go to that you remember the omelet chef's name and his family or the bartenders and their grandchildren or the wait staff know you by name.

Ok...you want to know about the sexual escapades at Hedo.  Well the saying is what happens at Hedo stays at Hedo but let's suffix it to say that even a lifestyle club owner has had more sexual adventures in the open at Hedo II than any where else they've ever been.  With enthusiastic applause at that!

Hedo II is what you make it.  It always is more fun when you go with people you know, but if you don't sit in a corner and read a book the entire time you are there  you can't help but meet knew friends.  The guests that go to Hedo II socialize, unlike those at other resorts who are there to sun bath there is always a easy conversation that you can join at Delroy's bar.

Bob and I invite you to come home with us.  Check out our travel page to see when our next trip is.  We will give you lots of insider information before you go and while you are there so you too will be calling Hedo home!

Irie
